I designed the NIUS mobile app to deliver a clean, fast reading experience for breaking news and in‑depth reporting. The app organizes stories with clear typography, flexible article layouts, and navigation that scales to the newsroom’s daily publishing needs.
NIUS is a Spanish digital newspaper owned by Mediaset España. It delivers up-to-the-minute coverage of national and international news across politics, economy, culture, science, and sports.
The goal was to design a new app that brought together all the content from the NIUS website — creating a more accessible, engaging, and user-friendly experience.

Although NIUS is a digital product, we wanted to preserve the analog essence of print journalism. We combined a serif typeface (Noto Serif) with a clean sans serif (SF or Roboto, depending on the OS) to balance tradition and modernity.

Articles were designed to support a variety of embedded content — photos, tags, videos, headers, and quotes — offering editors the flexibility to tell each story in the most engaging way possible.
Beyond the standard settings section, the app includes dedicated spaces for saved articles and a chronological feed of the latest news — helping readers stay organized and up to date.
